기쁘게 생각한다는 말로 정보를 전달하는 경우가 많다. It’s a great to ~ 나 It’s an honor to ~ 를 사용하면 더욱 격식을 차린 인상으로 바뀐다.
- I’m pleased to report that our sales showed 30% growth this year.
- I’m honored to be a finalist for the application award.
3. As a matter of fact, ~
‘사실은’ 이라는 뜻이고, In (point of) fact도 똑같이 사용된다.
- As a matter of fact, we already finished designing.
- As a matter of fact, this biological invention happened accidentally.
4. I’d like to ~
‘~하려고 한다’ 라는 표현을 할 때 쓰는 일반적인 표현이다. What I’d like to do is ~ 의 표현도 자주 쓰이므로 외우도록 하자

- I’d like to tell you about our future marketing strategy.

- We had an incredible product this year.
- Our company had an extraordinary quarter.

‘~인 것으로 밝혀지다’ 라는 뜻이다. by revenue 와 함께 쓰이면 자연스럽게 쓰인다.
- It turns out that there are many similarities between the two companies.
- It turns out that by revenue Apple is the largest mobile device company in the world now.

‘We are one of the ~ companies in the XX industry.’ 처럼 사용한다.
- Apple is a mobile device company.

잡스는 프리젠테이션 서두에 I’m going to talk about three points. First, the second, and finally ~ 와 같은 표현을 자주 사용한다.

반대로 장점을 말할 땐 The advantage of ~라고 표현한다. What’s wrong with ~? ~의 무엇이 나쁜가? 도 자주 사용되는 표현이다.

문제에서 끝나지 않고 전달하고 싶은 내용을 효과적으로 돋보이게 하는 표현이다.

‘어떻게 ~ 할 것인가?’ 라는 뜻이다.
- So how are we going to take this to a mobile advice?
- How are we going to use this information?

‘우리가 하려는 것은 ~ 이다.’ 라는 뜻.
- What we’re going to do is get rid of all these buttons and just make a giant screen.

- We had invented a new technology called multi-touch, which is phenomenal.

그 이름은 ~ 라고 한다.
- We are calling it iPhone. Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone, and here it is.

여러분도 알다시피 ~ 이고, 화제를 꺼내거나 전환할 때, 산대를 칭찬하여 이야기를 진핼할 때에 사용하면 대화에서 감칠맛을 낸다.

바꿔 말하면 ~ 이라는 뜻이고, 상대에게 더욱 강한 인상을 남기려고 할 때도 활용할 수 있다.
‘In short’ 가 더 강한 뉘앙스를 풍긴다.
